Below you will find answers for the following Frequently Asked Questions:
What does AutoBidder do?
AutoBidder is an online automated bidding system for online auctions (eBay,
Yahoo!, Amazon, etc.). Instead of placing your bids directly, you place them
through AutoBidder. Our site stores the information you submit until a specific
time before the end of the auction. At that point, AutoBidder places a bid with
eBay on your behalf. This final bidding process works exactly the same way as if
you placed the bid manually, so all eBay bidding rules apply - including proxy
bidding. The end result is your bids being placed at the last moment.
Why use AutoBidder?
There are many reasons to AutoBid. A lot of people that bid on an item will
actually bid again if they find they have been outbid, which can quickly leading
to a bidding war. End result? Someone probably paid more than they had to for
that item. By AutoBidding, you can avoid bid wars. That's not all. Experienced
collectors often find that other bidders watch to see what the experts are
bidding on, and then bid on those items themselves. The expert can AutoBid to
prevent other bidders from cashing in on their expertise. And of course, if you
place a bid through AutoBidder, you actually have the opportunity to cancel your
bid just about anytime before the end of the auction.
In summary, there are several reasons to us AutoBidder but the two main reasons are:
Additional reasons are:
Will AutoBidder guarantee that my bids are placed?
We certainly wish we could, but there are too many factors beyond our control to
guarantee that bids always get placed. While we have a very good track record of
placed bids, network traffic and website response time can sometimes prevent a
bid from being completed successfully.
Why do I have to sign up with AutoBidder to schedule a bid?
In order for AutoBidder to properly track and manage your schedule your bids
we require that you sign up with us. You have the option to register your eBay,
Yahoo and Amazon login names and passwords with us so you don't have to retype
them when scheduling a bid but you don't have to. The choice is yours.
Can AutoBidder place bids at other auction sites?
Not yet. As AutoBidding was our main objective, eBay was a perfect match. Many
other auction sites feature a 5 minute extension rule. At least 5 minutes has to
pass after the last bid before the auction is closed. However, this doesn't mean
AutoBidding still doesn't have a place, it's just not as effective. Also, our
latest feature - Bid Groups - will benefit greatly from being able to bid at
several auction sites. We'll keep you posted!
I forgot my password. What can I do?
We can email your password to you if you have forgotten it. Note that we only
know the password you have specified, not your actual eBay password. The
password will only be mailed to the email address we have on file for you. If
you have not supplied a valid email address, please
contact us.
I can't login to AutoBidder. How come?
Our site uses cookies to track your login status. If you have cookies disabled
in your browser, you will not be able to login to the site. Please ensure
cookies are enabled, and try again.
Why is AutoBidder free?
In the spirit of the Internet, we felt it best to offer a service that was free
to members, and pay for our costs through site sponsors and advertisers.
Furthermore, currently AutoBidder is in a Beta stage while we are perfecting the
AutoBidding process so no fees apply.
What does AutoBidder do with personal information?
We will occasionally email you with AutoBidder news. Your personal information
is never provided to any vendor, market or other third party.
Why didn't my bid go through?
There can be many reasons why a bid could not be completed. Please check the
"Bid Status" page and click on the "View Bid Result" link
for detailed information directly from the auction site.
What happens if multiple people bid on the same item?
Well, that depends. Normally, the higher bid wins. But, if your bids are for the
same amount, then the first person who is lucky enough to have their bid
submitted wins. AutoBidder does not make any attempt to determine if more than
one person is bidding on the same item - it just submits the bids.
Why is the status "Bid Placed Successfully" even though I lost the auction?
Bid Successful means that AutoBidder was able to place your bid, and at that
moment was the high bidder for the auction. It is possible (although quite rare)
for someone to sneak in a bid after your AutoBid. AutoBidder does not check
after the auction end to see who winner is.
